West Brom may have regrets after Reggie Cannon transfer news emerges
For most of the summer transfer window, Carlos Corberan was vocal about his desire to improve his right-back options at West Brom, with plenty of defenders linked with a move to The Hawthorns.
Ultimately, Carlos Corberan opted to bring Pipa into his squad on a season-long loan from Ludogretes having worked with the Spanish defender during his time at Huddersfield Town, despite reportedly having an interest in Reggie Cannon.
The USA international who has been capped 28 times was reportedly of interest to the Baggies as a free agent having been released from his contract with Boavista after a dispute over unpaid wages [Daily Mail, 28 August].

However, that interest reportedly never turned into any concrete proposal for the 25-year-old with Corberan preferring to make a move for Pipa [The Express and Star, 1 September], but it looks as though Cannon will be plying his trade in the Championship after all.
West London Sport reported on Wednesday [20 September] that QPR are set to finalise a deal to bring the USMT ace to Loftus Road as Gareth Ainsworth, like Corberan, was desperate to improve his options on the right of defence.
Cannon is expected to begin training with the London side on Thursday, meaning he will likely be available for QPR’s trip to Birmingham City on Friday (22 September) another club who were credited with an interest in the 25-year-old this summer.
The Baggies will be hoping to be competing at the opposite end of the table to QPR who look likely to be in a relegation battle once more this season, but should Cannon hit the ground running, Corberan may be left to question whether he made the right transfer call this summer.

Pipa is yet to make his Albion debut, having failed to get off the bench for West Brom’s 0-0 draw with Bristol City but could see his first minutes as the Baggies face Watford on Wednesday (20 September) evening at Vicarage Road.
Assuming he finds his feet quickly under Corberan again this season, there will be very few fans suggesting that Albion should have opted to sign Cannon instead, however, if the Spanish defender struggles, there may be some at The Hawthorns questioning the Baggies’ recruitment decision.
