Alex Mowatt sends Carlos Corberan message with 82% cameo in West Brom 2-2 draw v Watford

West Brom continued their roller-coaster start to the new Championship season with a 2-2 draw against Watford.

The Baggies were behind after just three minutes in the league encounter at Vicarage Road on Wednesday (20 September) thanks to Tom Ince’s goal.

But quickfire goals from John Swift and Jed Wallace arrived in the 14th and 17th minutes respectively, only for Matheus Martins to level things in the 23rd minute.

Albion manager Carlos Corberan tried his best to win the game in the second half, but he was forced to settle for a point in the end.

One approach that the man in the dugout did take was to introduce Alex Mowatt in the 58th minute, with the midfielder replacing Jayson Molumby.

And it certainly wasn’t a bad cameo from the 28-year-old, who finished the match with an 82.4% passing accuracy, with one of his passes being key, as per Sky Sports (20 September).

The midfielder also chipped in with three tackles, level with Corberan’s two midfield starters Molumby and Okay Yokuslu.

Neither of those two registered a key pass, while Mowatt also had a much better impact than fellow substitute Nathaniel Chalobah, who registered just two passes following his 74th-minute introduction.

With the league fixtures coming thick and fast, Mowatt may have just given his manager something to think about in terms of his starting XI, with the midfielder proving he can do it at both ends of the pitch.

Up next for the Baggies after their stalemate with Watford is another Championship clash, this time at home to Millwall on Saturday (23 September).

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports host was left stunned by one Baggies player in their 2-2 against the Hornets.
