Sky Sports host baffled by West Brom star Brandon Thomas-Asante in 2-2 v Watford
Sky Sports hist Jessica Creighton was left baffled by a late Brandon Thomas-Asante moment as West Brom faced Watford in the Championship.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (20 September, 9:26 pm), the pundit expressed her shock that Thomas-Asante’s failed 80th-minute attempt was saved by Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann after Jeremey Sarmiento’s into-the-box pass for the 24-year-old.
The Watford shot-stopper had to deliver a good save to stop the Baggies from taking a 3-2 lead late in the game, but Creighton urged Thomas-Asante to produce a much more clinical finish.

Creighton said: “It’s Jeremy Sarmiento, who’s charging forward down the middle for West Brom. He nudged the ball onto his right foot and just lays it off to Brandon Thomas-Asante, who’s one on one with the goalkeeper and you think, ‘put it anywhere past the goalkeeper’.
“And it’s a brilliant save by Daniel Bachmann to keep the ball out of the back of the net. It’s still 2-2, somehow. I don’t know how.”
Key moment
On the face of play, both West Brom and Watford deserved to leave Vicarage Road with the spoils shared after their goal-heavy encounter in the Championship.
In the closing moments of the game, either side could have snatched all the points from the death. Adama Traore missed an absolute sitter for the Hornets just before stoppage time, with Aaron Collonely’s into-the-box pass leaving the forward in position for an open goal.
His effort ultimately hit the bar, but all the goals in the game were exhausted by the 23rd minute when Matteus Martins’ long-range effort levelled terms for Valérien Ismaël’s side.

Thomas-Asante himself had a decent performance against Watford, earning himself two shots on target, three successful dribbles and six successful ground duels, but his missed opportunity late in the game could have, or perhaps should have, earned his Baggies their first win since late August [SofaScore].
Both sides ended the clash with nothing to separate them – both on the pitch and on the table. 15th place won’t be the ideal start for the Baggies, but on the face of play, they would take the point against a fellow promotion-pushing outfit like the Hornets.
But Carlos Corberan must have been steaming that his striker couldn’t have taken all the points back to Birmingham late in the day.
In other West Brom news, a Championship rival made a multi-million-pound bif for a Baggies regular.
