David Prutton predicts West Brom showdown v Millwall for Sky Sports

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has made his prediction ahead of the Championship fixture between West Brom and Millwall at The Hawthorns on 23 September, claiming it will end in a draw.

Prutton was given stats by his Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast co-host Simeon Gholam which detailed Millwall’s poor record at The Hawthorns, leading the former Leeds United midfielder to predict a 1-1 final score.

Should the score end level it would see West Brom’s home form continue to show its merit. A 2-1 loss to Huddersfield is their only defeat at The Hawthorns in three attempts so far this season.

West Brom

Speaking on the Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast, Gholam informed Prutton of the relevant statistics, stating: “West Brom vs. Millwall. Millwall are winless in their last five league visits to West Brom, they haven’t won there since a 2-0 victory in October 2001, what’s the score going to be at The Hawthorns?”.

Prutton replied simply: “1-1”, predicting Millwall’s winless run in the Black Country to continue and the resilient home form the Baggies have shown under Carlos Corberan to continue to make the difference.

A win would do West Brom wonders

The Baggies’ form this season has been inconsistent they have lost just once in their last six games, but have also struggled to turn tight games into wins as they drew with Leeds, Bristol City and Watford.

It looks unlikely that they’d be able to keep a clean sheet, having done so just once so far this season, after conceding two against Watford, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, Swansea and Blackburn, but their home form should prevail and gain them at least a point.

West Brom

It’s sure to be a tight clash against a Millwall side who shipped three goals to Leeds at The Den, before overcoming that deficit in goal difference by scoring three themselves in the midweek victory against Rotherham.

As always, the Championship proves to be unpredictable and throws up some staggering results, so while this may be a tight game and a difficult one to call, there may well be a few goals and both sides have shown they can be equally potent in attack as they are leaky in defence.
