Former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray shares West Brom jibe live on air during clash with Millwall
Former Wolves keeper Matt Murray shared a small jibe at West Brom live on air during the Baggies’ 0-0 draw with Millwall on Saturday 23 September.
Carlos Corberan’s side were locked in a stalemate with Millwall at The Hawthorns on Saturday (23 September) to make it four games without a win for the Baggies and they were lucky to not taste defeat as Alex Palmer saved Ziamn Flemming’s first-half penalty.
In what was the only goalless defeat in England’s second tier on Saturday, Murray, who spent 12 years contracted with midlands’ rivals Wolves used his time on air to sneak in a small dig to the Albion midway through the second half.

Appearing on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [23 September] presenter Simon Thomas said: “I do feel a bit for Matt Murray this season in the EFL Championship, he’s not had too many crackers, today he’s watching West Brom v Millwall, what’s been happening Matt?”
Murray replied: “I thought you were feeling for me because I’m down The Hawthorns.
“Apologies, being an ex-Wolves man, but there’s been a few chances in this game but what I have seen are some really good saves.”
Rivalry
The Wolves and West Brom derby may not be one that’s been seen on the pitch in the last few seasons, but it is safe to say that is alive and well between both clubs judging by Murray’s slightly tongue-in-cheek remark while live on air on Saturday.
There was obviously very little malice in the little remark from the former goalkeeper, but he should’ve maybe given a little more credit to Corberan’s side for what was a fairly good performance, even if it did lack the little bit of end product required to force a result.

Albion had 15 efforts compared to Gary Rowett’s side’s seven and while they can count themselves lucky that Palmer was able to deny Flemming from the spot, on another day they would have done more than enough to come away with all three points.
According to Fotmob, the Baggies missed two big chances, demonstrating that the Baggies issue once again isn’t creating chances, rather it’s putting them away. Hopefully, Corberan’s side can find their finishing touch to make sure that Murray is more entertained on his next trip to The Hawthorns.
