Erik Pieters injury news emerges for West Brom v Preston
West Brom defender Erik Pieters should be fit to face Preston North End on Saturday (30 September), according to Joe Chapman.
The Birmingham Live journalist tweeted on Monday (25 September) that the injury that forced the Dutch left-back off the field in the draw against Millwall “isn’t thought to be too serious”.
The 35-year-old was replaced by Darnell Furlong on 77 minutes against the Lions, but it looks as though he should be in line to play in the game at Deepdale at the weekend.
Relief
It will have come as a huge sense of relief for Carlos Corberan to learn that Pieters should be okay after there were initial concerns around the defender.
He has featured in eight games in all competitions so far this season after emerging as one of the first names on the teamsheet under the Albion boss.
The Dutchman has great versatility to be able to play at left-back or in the centre of the defence, where he has been playing on the left side of a back three recently.

The clean sheet against Millwall marked the Baggies’ first of the season at the Hawthorns, with keeper Alex Palmer largely to thank for that after he kept out Zian Flemming’s penalty.
With the injuries and lack of depth in the side, the week’s rest to recover and recuperate ahead of a difficult game against Preston will be welcome this week.
