Door is not shut on Rayhaan Tulloch’s future at West Brom
Despite not featuring for West Brom since the 2021/22 season, the door is not shut on Rayhaan Tulloch’s future at West Brom, according to Jonny Drury.
The Express and Star reporter wrote on Thursday (28 September) that the forward who was expected to have a bright future at The Hawthorns may be able to earn a new contract with Carlos Corberan’s side, despite seemingly being out of the Baggies’ boss’ plans.
Tulloch signed a four-year contract when Slaven Bilic was in charge of the Albion and impressed the Croatian, but has since found himself on a string of uninspiring loan spells including a temporary switch to Bradford City this season, as he enters the final year of his contract.

Discussing the 22-year-old’s situation, Drury wrote: “Is he in the last chance saloon for a return to Albion? Well, the saloon door is almost starting to shut and you could argue Tulloch is currently a free agent but one who is under contract.
“If this loan spell goes like those that have gone before, he won’t be a West Brom player next summer. If he scores ten to 15 goals for Bradford City and lights up League Two, is there a decision to be made then? Quite possibly. If he does that, could Albion offer him another year?
“The door is not shut on Tulloch’s Albion career, and he still thinks he can cut it at Championship level. But to prevent it from slamming shut, he needs to produce something pretty spectacular this season at Valley Parade.”
Something special
Past evidence suggests that Tulloch will not be able to produce the sort of form that will have Corberan and the rest of his team at The Hawthorns rushing to get a new contract on the table for the 22-year-old, as so far there has been very little to suggest he’s good enough for a Championship side.
With only six senior goals to his name with five of those coming for Dundalk in the League of Ireland, West Brom wouldn’t be looking to sign a 22-year-old with that sort of record, so really shouldn’t be too keen to be extending Tulloch’s current contract.

It will be a shame as like Saido Berahino’s time at The Hawthorns, Tulloch’s potential promised so much, but ultimately has produced so little and you would expect him to be released when this season winds to a close in June.
There must have been plenty of talent for Bilic to have been convinced to give the striker such a long contract in the first place, but for whatever reason he just doesn’t seem to have made the grade. Hopefully, this serves as a lesson to the Baggies to not give out lengthy contracts that aren’t deserved.
In other West Brom news, one finance expert has dubbed the loans that have been made to the Baggies as ‘exorbitant’
