Alex Mowatt blows Preston North End away with 88% all-round masterclass in West Brom 4-0 win
West Brom undoubtedly produced their best display of the season so far with a stunning victory against Preston North End.
The Baggies smashed their high-flying opponents 4-0 on Saturday (30 September), with Darnell Furlong, Alex Mowatt, Matt Phillips and Kyle Bartley scoring the goals.
It was a phenomenal team performance from Carlos Corberan’s men, but midfield ace Mowatt was arguably the pick of the bunch.

Along with his goal, the Baggies ace won seven of his eight duels (87.5%), and made three clearances, two tackles and one interception (SofaScore). Elsewhere in his all-round masterclass, the midfielder made two key passes, behind only John Swift’s five.
His stunning performance epitomised a fantastic day for the Albion, who climbed to eighth place in the Championship table with the three points.
It really was a shock result, with Preston suffering their first defeat of the new campaign, having been unbeaten in their first eight matches.
But Mowatt helped set the standard for an upset from the very first whistle, with Corberan finally getting the very best out of his talented group of players.

Perhaps they just needed some time to settle into the new season, but this performance should be the benchmark for the months to come.
Up next for Corberan and his men is a very winnable home clash with bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday (3 October).
The Owls are rock bottom of the standings having picked up just two points from their nine matches so far, with three points expected from home fans at The Hawthorns in the upcoming clash.
In other West Brom news, one Baggies player disagrees with Corberan over comments he made.
