Brandon Thomas-Asante axed, Tom Fellows handed start in two changes – West Brom predicted XI v QPR

Brandon Thomas-Asante could be set to be dropped for the West Brom game against QPR on Tuesday (24 October).

The 24-year-old forward returned to the starting lineup in the 0-0 draw against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (21 October), but he failed to have much of an impact leading the line for the Baggies at the Hawthorns.

That means academy product Tom Fellows may be in line for a start after the 20-year-old winger looked bright off the bench against Argyle, with Okay Yokuslu also pushing for a place in the Albion lineup.

“The most positive thing I can tell you of our attack was again the minutes from Tom Fellows,” Carlos Corberan told the Express & Star after the Plymouth game. “He was a player who helped the team to create something against Birmingham and he gave another step today to show he can help from the bench or even from the first XI.”

With that in mind, the Baggies manager is predicted to make two changes for the game against QPR.

Although he wasn’t called into action too much, Alex Palmer will continue in goal after keeping a clean sheet – his fifth of the season – at the weekend.

Cedric Kipre will continue in defence alongside Kyle Bartley and Erik Pieters in a back three despite the latter not having one of his better games against Plymouth, but Corberan is likely to stick by him.

Darnell Furlong will keep his place at right wing-back, while Matt Phillips will once again get the nod at left wing-back after being a near-ever present this season.

Despite Nathaniel Chalobah having a solid game against Plymouth, there are question marks around whether or not he can play back-to-back games in midweek, so Yokuslu is predicted to return to the midfield alongside Alex Mowatt after the pair had built up a decent partnership prior to the defeat against Birmingham City.

Fellows will come into the lineup on the right-hand side of the attack, with Grady Diangana continuing on the left, but there’s a chance he will look to switch wings at times after looking brighter when he went over to the right on Saturday.

That means Jed Wallace will lead the line after putting in a couple of strong performances already in that position this season as Thomas-Asante drops down to the bench after he struggled as the lone striker against Argyle.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies have been branded “serious play-off contenders” this season.
