West Brom defender Cedric Kipre is set to undergo a scan on Wednesday (25 October) after suffering a knee injury in their 2-0 win over QPR on Tuesday, according to Express & Star.

The Midlands news outlet, reporting on 25 October writes that the Baggies defender could be facing facing weeks or even months on the sidelines in yet another new injury blow at The Hawthorns.

West Brom were also without both Conor Townsend on Tuesday (24 October) after suffering from sickness and Semi Ajayi, who picked up an ankle injury in Saturday's draw with Plymouth.

Corberan admitted after the game that Kipre's injury looked serious and explained that the club will know more after Wednesday.

Curse continues

The Hawthorns injury curse certainly continues with this latest new West Brom setback and Corberan could be forgiven for thinking his hopes of mounting a serious play-off threat is taking a massive dent right now.

It’s safe to say West Brom have been cursed and plagued by injuries for a long while now, and it’s arguably the reason why they just missed out on the playoff places last season.

Had Corberan had the necessary quality at his disposal during the latter stages of the 2022/23 campaign, we may well have been looking at the Baggies as a Premier League club.

But, it’s certainly continued on this season which has certainly become a real worry at The Hawthorns and something must be done or has to change to avoid the same mistakes as last season.

John Swift, Daryl Dike, Jeremy Sarmiento, Josh Maja, Semi Ajayi and now Cedric Kipre are all facing weeks or months on the sidelines at West Brom which certainly puts a dampener on the club's ambitions again this season.

This is a pivotal campaign for the Spaniard and his team, with a play-off place the minimal expectation from those above him and for that to be fulfilled Corberan will need maximum quality, output and fitness from every player at his disposal.

Here's hoping Kipre's blow isn't too serious.
