West Midlands Mayor ‘in dialogue’ with West Brom amid ownership discussions

Andy Street, the Conservative Mayor of the West Midlands, has claimed he is in discussions with West Brom and Action For Albion about the issues regarding the club’s ownership.

Street also confirmed dialogue has been held with Nicola Richards, the Conservative MP for West Bromwich East, as they work towards a solution for the ownership problems.

This comes following recent information from the club’s managing director Mark Miles, who confirmed conversations are taking place over a potential takeover, and Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox shared [15 October] that the club are confident.

Taking to Twitter on 25 October following West Brom’s 2-0 victory over QPR, Street wrote: “Good to be at The Hawthorns for a great result for the Baggies as they continue to perform on the pitch.

“Off the pitch, I’m aware of the issues surrounding the ownership and I’ve been in dialogue with Action For Albion, Nicola Richards and the club as we work towards a solution.”

Potential government intervention

For the Mayor and local MP to be discussing the ongoing situation at West Brom, as well as getting the club and protest group involved in those discussions, should be seen as a positive sign that there is a light at the end of the tunnel as far as the ownership nightmare goes.

This is the latest piece of good news to come out in recent weeks, as talks begin to pick up the pace for finding a new owner and finally being rid of the current shambles at the top of the club.

West Brom

It is also an important step for Action For Albion, their initiatives and their protests, to be officially recognised by some people with genuine influence, as they take another step towards their desired goal of a change at the very top of West Brom.

The coming months will take further interesting steps, with twists and turns still expected, although there is a growing hope around the club that a solution can be reached soon.
