Carlos Corberan addresses West Brom boos despite positive result v Queens Park Rangers
Carlos Corberan has sent a message to the West Brom fans after sections of the support at The Hawthorns booed his team off at half-time against Queens Park Rangers.
Fans have begun to show their frustration at the lack of consistent goalscoring in the team, with back-to-back goalless first halves against Plymouth and QPR leading to the negative reaction.
Corberan’s team went on to beat the Rs 2-0 with Brandon Thomas-Asante and Grady Diangana on the scoresheet, and silenced the negative reception, with the boss now feeling the need to address those frustrations.

Speaking to the Express and Star on 27 October, Corberan commented: “I always respect a lot the opinion of the people, they pay the money here, to come to the stadium and they need to show if they are happy with what they watch or not.
“There were things we needed to improve from the first half to the second half and that’s what we tried to do, that’s all I understand that they want to see – more goals and more attacks or whatever.
“As a coach, I want to see the same, but with the consequence of counter-attacks, sometimes it is easy, sometimes we need to fix things to see what we want to see. But the feeling I have from these fans is support, more than any [other] type of action.
“I want to give the best to our supporters, this is what I want every single time, being here one year or being here one week, like I always say I feel proud to be here at the club, I enjoy it a lot and I don’t feel I could have a better place to work than West Bromwich Albion, that is my honest, honest feeling.”

Patience is needed
The lack of consistent goals in this West Brom side is certainly a frustrating feature. Injuries have played their part, with both Josh Maja and Daryl Dike ruled out of action, but if the team want to achieve their ambitions they have to find the net more regularly.
Boos from the crowd aren’t going to do anything to help, though. Fans need to get behind the team and show their support even when times are tough, that’s what can pull them through to winning games.
Corberan’s decision to focus on the positivity from the crowd will do him and his squad plenty of good, looking for the positives in a negative situation, and will help to keep them focused and driven rather than letting frustration creep in.
Goals will come with time, but given the circumstances surrounding Albion off the pitch and the struggles they showed in the summer transfer window, patience will be necessary and there must be a level of understanding from the fans.
In other West Brom news, the boss has suggested a new role for a star player.
