Coventry City likelihood of sacking Mark Robins emerges in defeat v West Brom – BBC journalist

Coventry City are highly unlikely to sack Mark Robins after the defeat to West Brom on Monday (29 October), according to Ged Scott.

Writing on the BBC Sport website on Monday (09:46pm), the journalist said the home fans appeared “stunned” following the 2-0 defeat against the Baggies.

He added that the recent results for the Sky Blues are becoming a cause for concern after goals from Grady Diangana and Brandon Thomas-Asante condemned them to a third straight defeat in a row.

“The home fans still appear stunned,” said Scott. “The away horde are taunting them with a burst of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’. Highly unlikely. But this is starting to become cause for Coventry concern.”

Surprising

If you had said at the start of the season that one of these sides would be fifth and the other 20th in the Championship table, then not many people would have guessed it would be this way around.

The Sky Blues were superb last season as they narrowly lost out to Luton Town in the playoff final and they would have been expecting to be right up there again in this campaign.

But despite all the problems off the field and the number of senior players who were allowed to leave West Brom over the summer, they find themselves remarkably competing at the top end of the table.

That is a testament to the job Carlos Corberan is doing under extremely difficult circumstances after he has found a way to get the most out of his squad.

Albion showed once again why they are one of the most stubborn teams to break down against Coventry and their Spanish boss will be looking to continue this progress and remain in the promotion mix over the next few weeks.

In other West Brom news, a Tory MP has shared her stance on a potential change of ownership at the Hawthorns.
