Nathaniel Chalobah no longer undroppable at West Brom after Carlos Corberan decision v Hull City
Carlos Corberan has made a number of changes to his West Brom starting XI to face Hull City in the Championship on Saturday 4 November.
Erik Pieters, Pipa and Nathaniel Chalobah have all dropped to the bench, with Brandon Thomas-Asante, Connor Townsend and Darnell Furlong all returning to the starting XI at The Hawthorns against the Tigers.
Chalobah has started the last three Championship matches for the Baggies having impressed greatly in wins against Plymouth Argyle and Queens Park Rangers, but the midfielder did struggle against Coventry as he was substituted after only 53 minutes.
Some believed that the 28-year-old has become undroppable given his recent performance, but it is clear that Corberan doesn’t believe that to be true and would much rather utilise the depth at his disposal in the West Brom side, especially in midfield.
Both Alex Mowatt and Okay Yokuslu were impressive against the Sky Blues on Monday (30 October) and with Thomas-Asante returning to the starting line-up, it makes sense for Corberan to pick a slightly more attacking side and drop Chalobah to the bench.
The former Chelsea man has to ensure that if he comes on at any point against Hull, that he takes his chance with both hands as other midfielders at The Hawthorns have become rooted to the bench in recent weeks, especially Jayson Molumby.
Molumby last started a Championship match in September and has been limited to cameos ever since and given how recently Chalobah revived his West Brom career, it would be an immense shame if he were to suffer a similar fate in the coming weeks.

Corberan has got his side playing really well at The Hawthorns this season and there is absolutely no reason that the recent run of form should come to an end against Hull City on Saturday, especially in front of the passionate home crowd.
Hull have also been in good form under Liam Rosenior this season and just like the Baggies are well and truly in the hunt for the play-off places, but if West Brom want to finish in the top six this season, they are going to need to beat the teams around them.
Albion’s defence have been in excellent form so far this season and have kept clean sheets in all of their last three outings, the Tigers are the lowest scorers in the Championships’ current top seven clubs, so Corberan will be hoping his side can complete another shutout.
In other West Brom news, Grady Diangana has heaped praise on Corberan for targeting a winning mentality at The Hawthorns
