Carlos Corberan hails ‘massive’ commitment from West Brom players
Carlos Corberan has claimed the key behind his West Brom side’s success and competitive edge is the commitment he receives from his players in every game.
The boss was full of praise for the strong mentality in the squad, claiming that they were aware this mentality would be the key to remaining competitive after a difficult summer for the club.
Corberan shared that by combining the level of commitment with a solid defence and attacking flair you can win any game, but without that determination, it would be impossible to remain competitive.
Speaking to the Express & Star on 7 November, Corberan shared: “It’s a massive effort and commitment from the players – that for me has been the key.
“We knew at the beginning of the season that a strong mentality would be key this year and a strong mentality is the key and is going to keep being the key to competing in games.
“And after, when you add to the strong mentality with positive attacking and defensive behaviours, then you have options to win the games. But without the strong mentality that they are playing (with), literally, it is impossible.”
The determination and commitment are clear
If you could pick out one thing about the current group of players at The Hawthorns it would be the level of commitment they show going into every game. Corberan has brought the best of that side of their game out, and it has shone through in recent displays.
Whether or not they are able to win games every week, they very rarely lose, and that can prove a valuable asset to have when competing towards the top end of the Championship where every point counts.
The Baggies have lost just once in their last ten games, despite an ongoing injury crisis which has seen them lose several key players, especially in attack, but those who have stepped in to take their place have kept up the high levels expected by the boss.
During what has proved to be a turbulent time for West Brom, the players are showing their grit and determination, and proving they won’t just roll over at the first sign of a setback. That’s the mentality Corberan brings and one that has spread throughout the club.
