West Brom trio Daryl Dike, John Swift and Josh Maja spotted back in training after long injury layoffs

West Brom players Darly Dike, Josh Maja, John Swift and Adam Reach have all been pictured back training together ahead of their prospective returns in the coming weeks.

Albion shared a video on their social media channels on Tuesday (7 November) of the four players, all currently injured, being put through their paces away from the main group as they make their way back to full fitness.

Striker Dike hasn’t kicked a ball since April, when he suffered a ruptured Achilles in the 2-1 win at Stoke City, while Reach joined the American on the sidelines after a quad injury recurrence for Burton Albion in pre-season.

Swift and Maja have been disappointing losses over the course of this season; the former, the club’s top scorer this season with six, hasn’t been a part of this excellent run the club are enjoying having limped off with a thigh problem at Birmingham City last month.

Maja damaged ankle ligaments in the goalless draw at Bristol City in September.

However, all four players were spotted in fine fettle training away from the squad as they stepped up their recoveries with the latter two expected to return after the forthcoming international break.

Great news

Albion have already begun to start feeling the benefits of returning players recently which certainly come as some great news for Carlos Corberan and West Brom as a whole.

Semi Ajayi was back in the squad and scored in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Hull City, while Brighton loanee Jeremy Sarmiento also made his own long-awaited return as a substitute.

West Brom

The forward positions have certainly been an area of great need for the Baggies boss who has been forced to play Jed Wallace in an unfamiliar up-front because of his lack of options in the position.

And it’s a tactical decision that has so far proven a masterstroke with West Brom in great form right now, unbeaten in their last five games and currently sitting in fifth place in the Championship table.

Dike and Reach aren’t expected to return till around the new year period but seeing Swift and Maja back training will be such huge news for the club, especially the former who has proven a creative maestro so far this campaign.

Maja on the other hand will be hoping his return to fitness means a return to some sort of form with the former Sunderland and Bordeaux striker struggling to pull up trees so far since his free summer transfer.

In other West Brom news, an “interesting” verdict has been issued amid a rumoured imminent takeover by an NFL star and billionaire executive.
