Chris Lepkowski rubbishes West Brom transfer speculation as ownership uncertainty continues
Chris Lepkowski has rubbished suggestions that the prospective new owners at West Brom are already having a say in transfer activity.
The Daily Mail reported on Saturday (11 November) that Albion’s new backers have urged the club to keep hold of youngster Tom Fellows, who is said to be a target for Leicester City and Southampton.
However, Lepkowski has questioned how much truth there is to that story given how little is known about those set to take over from Guochuan Lai.
When asked on Twitter [13 November] if it is plausible that the future owners would ask for certain guarantees with regards to players, Lepkowski said: “Absolutely. But not the case here.”
How much longer?
While momentum does appear to be gathering with regards to the takeover at The Hawthorns, there is still plenty of uncertainty.
The Daily Mail previously reported that two possible buyers are in discussions with Albion as Lai’s tenure at the club approaches its conclusion.
Takeover specialist David Hinchliffe was then spotted in attendance for West Brom’s recent win over Hull City, fuelling speculation of a deal being close.
But the identity – or identities – of those involved remain unknown, never mind their intentions when they eventually take over.

It goes without saying, though, that any buyers will want to keep hold of the club’s biggest assets, which is a category Fellows falls into.
Of more pressing concern for Albion fans is how long this process is taking, as there is a real fear that another star name will have to be sold in January unless a deal is struck before then.
Let’s just hope there is lots of activity taking place behind the scenes that we are not privy to and that a deal is closer than we think.
In other West Brom news, Lepkowski has shared whether he expects the Baggies to sell any players in January.
