Carlos Corberan suggests that West Brom progress would be 'impossible' without unseen factor

Carlos Corberan has revealed that the good and happy backroom team at his disposal at West Brom has made success possible at The Hawthorns.

The Spaniard brought a majority of his backroom team with him when he made the switch to the Baggies, including assistant coach Jorge Alarcon, statistical analyst Damia Abella and Michael Hefele who had all worked with Corberan before.

West Brom currently sit just outside the Championship playoff places in seventh place during the November international break, but Corberan believes that without these staff around him, it would be “impossible” for the Albion to achieve anything.

As quoted by the Express & Star (16 November) he said: “I never talk (publicly) only by myself. I talk always with the people I represent as a head coach. I have one group of assistants and if you don’t have the right people with you then it’s impossible to achieve anything.

“These type of people support my work, I have people who came with me and I have people who were already at the club. I’m pleased of course with the people who I’ve brought with me, and these people you usually have an experience of before.

“Then there are the people of the club who you don’t have a previous experience with, but here I’ve found very good people. When I tell you I’m pleased to be here and proud to be at the club, it’s not only for myself – I speak for everyone I represent.”

United front

It’s safe to say that since arriving at The Hawthorns last season, Corberan has managed to unite the entirety of West Brom together with one another, whether that be in terms of his relationship with supporters or his team behind the scenes.

There’s plenty not right at Albion currently and most of that stems from the owner currently at The Hawthorns, whether that be in terms of a lack of investment in the transfer window or a lack of transparency with the fanbase over situations behind closed doors.

But the crucial elements of the team are in order behind the scenes, with Corberan having an excellent team around him that has given the Baggies a chance to achieve something special this season and continue their progress.

While there is still plenty of football to play this season and many points up for grabs, West Brom have found themselves in a playoff race. Everyone behind the scenes that Corberan speaks for remains happy at The Hawthorns and that could be crucial over the next few months.
