Wilfried Zaha reacts as Martin Kelly shares injury update at West Brom

Galatasaray and Ivory Coast ace Wilfried Zaha has reacted after Martin Kelly shared an injury update at West Brom.

The defender suffered a serious knee injury in February while on loan at Wigan Athletic, and has not played a single match since then.

The 33-year-old joined the Baggies from Crystal Palace in 2022, and has made seven appearances for the club so far.

In a video shared on his Instagram on Monday (20 November), Kelly documented his return to training, with the message: “A warm welcome back from the boys this morning, love it! So happy to be back with the group.”

Among those commenting on and reacting to the social media post was Zaha, who played alongside Kelly for several years at Crystal Palace.

Fantastic news

Kelly’s return to the training pitch is first and foremost a massive boost for the player himself, having been forced to watch on from the sidelines for a very long period of time.

He has clearly worked very hard to return to the game, with his presence at training also a massive boost for manager Carlos Corberan.

And it will also give a boost to Kelly’s teammates, who have proven that he is a well-liked figure in and around The Hawthorns.

There is undoubtedly plenty of hard work still to go, but Kelly is seemingly over the worst of his unfortunate injury. He will now be eager to get going on the training ground, with a return to a match scenario perhaps not too far away.

Kelly boasts plenty of big-game experience from his time at Liverpool and Crystal Palace, having represented the Red and the Eagles in the Premier League for several years.

In other West Brom news, a new contract is not on the cards for one “excellent” Baggies man after a recent development at The Hawthorns.
