Prospective West Brom owners backed on Tom Fellows call as former boss speaks out
West Brom are in the process of a takeover bid, and the prospective new owners have already decided they want to keep Tom Fellows at the club in a move that has been backed by the praise of his former coach.
The Daily Mail [11 November] claimed that Leicester and Southampton are both interested in Fellows, but the prospective owners are determined not to lose their star academy product.
Darren Byfield, who coached Fellows during their time at Crawley Town, labelled the winger as unbelievable and hailed his attitude and work ethic off the pitch as well.

Byfield was speaking to the Express & Star [22 November] where he had nothing but praise for Fellows, revealing: “I absolutely love the boy, honestly.
“Let’s talk about his game…unbelievable. He is a get-off-your-seat kind of guy. When he got the ball I was like ‘Go on, Tom’. He dribbles and drives, with a great attitude to develop, a great attitude to work, just a wonderful boy.
“Off the pitch, his mannerisms, his attitude, I really, really liked Tom Fellows and think he will go on to be a very good footballer.”
Since returning to West Brom this season, Carlos Corberan has afforded Fellows plenty of game time, clearly seeing the potential he holds and helping him to grow and flourish at a higher level than he has ever played before.
Fellows has made seven appearances for the Baggies so far this season, with the boss keen to integrate him into his side, particularly given the lack of options out wide with Grady Diangana and Jeremy Sarmiento providing the only real options for the position.

To have received such high praise from somebody who worked closely with him is a testament to Fellows’ ability and character, and has proved the prospective new owners right in their determination to see him remain at Albion for the foreseeable future.
Having been involved in all but one matchday squad so far this season, Fellows’ development looks set to continue at The Hawthorns, and with a bit of patience, he could become a star player.
In other West Brom news, one Baggies sensation could quit the club in January.
