David Prutton predicts result of West Brom showdown with Ipswich Town for Sky Sports

David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will return to action after the November international break with a draw when they face Ipswich Town on Saturday 25 November.

Carlos Corberan’s side welcome the Tractor Boys to The Hawthorns in the first of a run of difficult fixtures over the festive period, but the Sky Sports presenter believes that the Baggies will be able to come away with a draw, predicting it will finish 2-2.

Albion’s four-match unbeaten run came to an end when they faced Southampton last time out, while Ipswich have started the season excellently and currently sit in the automatic promotion places.

Writing in his Sky Sports Championship predictions (23 November) he said: “West Brom suffered a setback against Southampton before the break, and it doesn’t get any easier as they host Ipswich, the start of a big run of fixtures for them – their next few games are against Cardiff, Leicester and Sunderland.

“Ipswich will have to look over their shoulders all weekend, particularly the Leeds result on Friday night, but they have dealt with that type of pressure on more than one occasion already this season.

“I think they could be held here, but a draw at The Hawthorns is a decent result for anyone.”

Back up and running

West Brom’s last outing against Southampton was an incredibly strange clash. It was one of the Baggies’ best performances of the season which saw them receive a standing ovation from the travelling support at St Mary’s, yet somehow they came away with nothing.

Corberan’s side have shown repeatedly this season that they are more than capable of picking up crucial results in games that matter and have been incredibly hard to break down. If they play anywhere near as well as they did against the Saints on Saturday, they’ll make life very difficult for Ipswich.

The next few weeks will more than likely be the first genuine indicator of just how serious Albion’s playoff push is, with matches against a number of teams in and around the top six places that could well prove to be crucial.

A draw with Ipswich as Prutton has predicted would be an excellent start to this intense block of fixtures and West Brom should be heading into Saturday’s clash that they can go one better and ensure all three points remain at The Hawthorns.
