West Brom ace Jeremy Sarmiento faces injury scare v Cardiff City

West Brom attacker Jeremy Sarmiento faced an injury scare in the game against Cardiff City in the Championship on Tuesday, 28 November.

According to Birmingham Live journalist Joe Chapman, his nose was bleeding and he had to have his shirt changed before continuing.

The Ecuador international scored the only goal en route to the Baggies sealing a 1-0 victory.

Chapman wrote on Twitter, “Sarmiento getting looked at – nothing serious, but he has a nosebleed by the looks. Will have to have his shirt changed.”

Safety first?

While a nosebleed may seem minor, it can have severe implications, especially in the context of a physically demanding match.

Experiencing a nosebleed could result from a variety of factors and the medical team needed to assess its severity to ensure the player’s well-being which they did.

While he wasn’t brought off at the time, he was eventually taken off and that’s probably the Baggies opting for safety first.

West Brom

Beyond the immediate health concern, Sarmiento’s absence due to a shirt change may even have disrupted the team’s rhythm, however shortlived it may have been.

Sarmiento’s significance to West Brom was evident not only through his essential role on the pitch but also by his goal-scoring contribution.

His ability to find the back of the net underscores his importance in providing an offensive threat for the team.

Having just returned from an injury, he wouldn’t want another spell out on the sidelines for the Baggies.
