Jayson Molumby should push for West Brom exit in January as Carlos Corberan prefers Baggies trio
West Brom have gone from strength to strength in the last few weeks, with Carlos Corberan transforming a feeling of negativity around The Hawthorns into an overwhelming sense of optimism.
Despite a lack of investment in the summer, the Baggies have found themselves in the race for the playoffs with their win over Cardiff City the latest in a string of results that have made them genuine promotion contenders.
Part of that has been down to the impressive displays from the players at the heart of Corberan’s midfield, namely Okay Yokuslu, Alex Mowatt and Nathaniel Chalobah who have all played integral roles in the Baggies’ climb up the table.

Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox went as far as to describe Yokuslu and Mowatt as the Championship’s best midfield pairing [Baggies Broadcast], while Chalobah’s displays earlier in the season saw him labelled “undroppable” by Joseph Chapman.
One player who has suffered as a result of the good form of the players around him however is Jayson Molumby, with the Irish international limited to cameo appearances from the bench, with his last Albion start coming all the way back in September.
The 24-year-old has been a key part of Corberan’s side at the start of the season, starting the first eight matches of the campaign for West Brom, but since then he has not played more than 24 minutes in any of the subsequent 10 matches.
For some reason, Corberan has decided that his West Brom side would be better served with a pairing made up of Yokuslu, Mowatt and Chalobah and it doesn’t appear to be a coincidence that Albion’s upturn in form coincided with Molumby’s admission from the squad.
The Baggies seem to be much stronger defensively and carry a greater attacking threat when Molumby is omitted from the team and it feels as though the Irish midfielder may have to look towards The Hawthorns’ exit door this January if he wants to play regular first-team football.

Money will once again be tight in the transfer window as Albion wait to see whether their takeover is finally completed and players are expected to be sold if the right offer comes in for them during the January transfer window.
Selling Molumby would help raise some much-needed money and given his lack of involvement in recent weeks, he wouldn’t be particularly missed by Corberan in the second half of the season.
Currently, the Irishman is a spare part in this West Brom side and it would be best for all parties if he were to move on in January.
