John Swift infuriates Sky Sports pundit for what he did before West Brom hit by late Harry Winks winner for Leicester City
John Swift’s failure to pull the trigger on a late attempt at a West Brom winner had Andy Hinchcliffe shouting in frustration in the commentary box against Leicester City.
The Sky Sports pundit reacted live on the match coverage on 2 December as the Baggies substitute took too much time on the left side of the box when the ball looked to be begging for a shot at goal in the closing minutes.
Hinchcliffe accused Swift of trying to be “too clever” as he wasted the chance just moments after Josh Maja’s first West Brom goal had drawn the home side level, and the Albion were duly punished soon after as the Foxes broke away to take the points at the other end through Harry Winks.

Hincliffe said (2.22pm): “He had an opportunity, Swift, to shoot. Just put your laces through it! At this late stage don’t try and be too clever! Just drill it towards the target!”
Punished
Carlos Corberan may be criticised for leaving the back door open for the late Leicester winner but the atmosphere around The Hawthorns after Maja’s equaliser suggested the win was there to be snatched.
Had Swift not dallied as the ball came across to him that may have been the moment where the manager’s aggression in staying on the front foot was vindicated.
To not even have an attempt on goal was frustrating when there was never going to be enough time for him to settle on the perfect attempt.

West Brom were in the ascendency after Maja’s equaliser and when the ball bounced across to Swift in the box the late opening the Baggies needed to complete the turnaround looked to have arrived.
Responsibility for the entire result can’t be parked at the former Reading man’s door but it was an infuriating lack of incision which was compounded as the visitors streaked clear from a home corner minutes later to win.
Leicester City may not be the irresistible force they were a few weeks ago but Corberan’s men pushed them all the way and could have taken the win, so the result is a huge disappointment.
In other West Brom news, the takeover “clock is ticking” with £26m potentially already gone at The Hawthorns.
