Alex Palmer mocked live on Sky Sports for ‘Tom Daley’ fall as West Brom lose sickener to Leicester City
Tom Daley “would have been proud” of Alex Palmer’s “tremendous” fall to the turf during the late West Brom defeat by leaders Leicester City, according to Andy Hinchcliffe.
The Sky Sports pundit reacted live on the broadcaster’s match coverage on 2 December after the Baggies keeper had claimed a loose ball in the box and been knocked off balance by Cedric Kipre under pressure from a Foxes attacker in the second half.
Palmer appeared to jar his knee before leaping in the air and kicking his leg out as he fell but soon recovered, as Hinchcliffe sarcastically called it “excellent work”.

Hinchcliffe said (2.00pm): “He just appears to jar that right leg. Let’s hope he’s ok because it was a tremendous fall to the ground.
“Tom Daley would have been proud of that. Excellent work.”
Unlucky
In fairness to Palmer it did seem like he had landed awkwardly after the coming together with his own man and briefly looked to have picked up an injury, even if his immediate reaction was fairly amusing.
He will be far less bothered about that moment ultimately than the late winning goal from Harry Winks, as Leicester broke away from a West Brom corner in added time and left the keeper completely exposed.
Palmer had no chance in a two vs one situation as the ball was squared for the Foxes midfielder to slide home a gut-punch winner only minutes after it looked like the Albion had rescued a valuable point.

Josh Maja’s first goal for the club in the 89th minute had cancelled out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s opener in the 72nd and appeared to have given a battling draw that they probably deserve on the balance of play.
But the momentum shift it provided arguably also led to the defeat as West Brom pushed players up looking for a late, late winner and were caught on the breakaway.
Plenty of fans won’t hold it against Corberan being aggressive and going for all the points, but the risk that opened the door to was realised in painful fashion.
In other West Brom news, the Baggie’s takeover has received MP support after news that will “concern” fans.
