Carlos Corberan must now consider new Okay Yokuslu deal after 90% West Brom masterclass v Leicester City

West Brom suffered a devastating blow to their strong promotion hopes at the hands of league leaders Leicester City.

The Baggies hosted the Foxes at The Hawthorns on Saturday (2 December), with the aim of causing a major upset against the recently relegated club.

But despite a late equaliser from substitute Josh Maja, after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall had given the visitors the lead, it wasn’t meant to be.

That is because Foxes ace Harry Winks had other ideas, joining his fellow midfielder Dewsbury-Hall on the scoresheet with a very late winner.

The 2-1 defeat means the Baggies are now fifth in the Championship table, with Enzo Maresca’s side still flying high at the top.

But while his midfielders impressed, so did Albion midfield ace Okay Yokuslu, who was handed another start by Carlos Corberan thanks to his impressive displays of late.

Despite the defeat, the 29-year-old certainly impressed again, with the midfielder completing 90% of his passes, one of which was key, with Yokuslu completing all four of his attempted long balls [Sofascore].

Moreover, the Baggies ace made three tackles and two clearances to help out his defence, and impressively made four interceptions in his favoured defensive midfield role, more than any other player on the pitch.

Having signed a three-year contract at The Hawthorns in July 2022, Yokuslu’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

And while Corberan may have more pressing matters, it would do no harm for the manager to at least consider the idea of a new deal for his Turkish star.

In other West Brom news, Tony Brown spotted something in the clash against the Foxes that will have angered Corberan.
