Tony Mowbray sack decision emerges at Sunderland ahead of clash v West Brom

Sunderland have made the decision to sack manager Tony Mowbray ahead of Saturday’s Championship clash with West Brom at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats confirmed via their Twitter account (4 December) that the club have parted company with the former Blackburn boss following their run of results in the Championship.

Sunderland have won two and lost five of their last nine matches in the Championship and sit ninth in the table three points off a play-off position ahead of Saturday’s clash with West Brom (9 December).

Baffling

Certainly, Sunderland were on a worrying run of results with just two wins from their last nine and struggling to score goals too but the decision to part ways with Mowbray is baffling.

The former Blackburn boss is one of the most decorated and experienced around and if anyone was to turn around the club’s fortunes it was certainly him.

West Brom

Now, ahead of a crucial game on Saturday afternoon, the Black Cats have given West Brom all the encouragement they need to seal an away victory at the Stadium of Light.

Carlos Corberan will certainly be urging his team not to take this news lightly and the Black Cats could well be set for a post-manager bounce on Saturday so the Spaniard will be taking this news with a pinch of salt.

After the Baggies’ last-gasp defeat to Leicester City over the weekend, they will certainly be eyeing up a pivotal three points on Saturday but the uncertainty regarding which Sunderland will turn up on Saturday makes this contest all the more intriguing.

Huge development on Wearside.

In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai appears to be very close to an exit from the Hawthorns amid a recent development involving a prospective takeover.
