Doctor issues Kyle Bartley injury news for West Brom v Sunderland clash

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom...

West Brom defender Kyle Bartley may not be fully ready to take on Sunderland in the Championship on Saturday, 9 November, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that it’s the sort of setback that should see him returning to action within a week but that’s not always the case.

The 32-year-old missed the 2-1 defeat against Leicester with a minor hamstring issue and it was something that was picked up close to kick off.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Bartley’s injury, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

This sounds like muscle fatigue and mild overload rather than an overt injury.

Difficult to say when he might be back but could just be a week or so to allow it to calm down and reduce the stress on it.

His availability over the weekend will depend on how he’s recovered during the week.

The Baggies already have Matt Phillips and Daryl Dike missing for the next game and the last thing Carlos Corberan will want is for his experienced stalwart to miss too.

The English centre-back has made 14 league appearances this season and has even chipped in with two goals for the Baggies.

There will possibly be a late fitness test for him as when fit, he’s among the first names on the team sheet for Corberan.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
