Chris Lepkowski fumes as ‘terrible news’ emerges from West Brom in last 24 hours

Chris Lepkowski has reacted to Carlos Corberan’s recent West Brom injury update post the 2-0 win against Rotherham on 12 December.

The Spaniard confirmed that striker Josh Maja will now be ruled out of action for the next four months.

He also claims that the 24-year-old will need surgery, further adding to the Baggies’ injury woes.

Lepkowski, a former Birmingham Mail journalist, took to Twitter to write, “Terrible news. Taking this to a literal context, it means he may not return until 3 games from the end in the worst case scenario.”

Tough one

Having just returned from a previous ankle injury, the striker has suffered a fresh setback in a clash with Sunderland and the confirmation of a four-month absence is disheartening for both the player and the team.

Maja’s absence leaves a notable void in the team’s attacking lineup, as he was anticipated to play a pivotal role in bolstering Albion’s goal-scoring capabilities.

With Daryl Dike not yet fully fit and Brandon Thomas-Asante perhaps not ready to shoulder the major goal-scoring responsibilities, the Nigeria international could’ve been a perfect fit.

West Brom

His injury not only diminishes the squad’s offensive prowess but also disrupts the team’s rhythm and strategic plans, particularly considering the timing in the midst of a competitive season.

The need for surgery further complicates the recovery process, prolonging the period before Maja can contribute to the field again.

West Brom must now navigate a significant portion of the campaign without him and it remains to be seen whether or not they enter the January window for another striker.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
