Action For Albion react as John Percy shares West Brom takeover update in last 24 hours

Action For Albion has reacted to the “good news” that Guochuan Lai is in advanced talks with three consortiums over a deal to sell West Brom.

The Telegraph’s John Percy shared the update on Tuesday (12 December), with one of the groups from America and another from Nigeria.

Controlling shareholder Lai is now set to decide on his preferred bidder, with the Americans in pole position as it stands.

Reacting to the news on Twitter [12 December], fan group Action For Albion posted: “Well well well… This is good news isn’t it everyone?”

On track

After a couple of weeks of radio silence, it is good that a takeover appears to be very much on track to go through very soon.

Following the recent news that Albion have taken out another loan, it was felt any sort of deal to buy out Lai was still some way off.

Percy reported that the deal will be worth £60million, plus you then have to factor in the various outstanding debts.

Whoever it is that takes over, they need to have a fair amount of money behind them to just get Albion back in the black.

In an ideal world, new owners will be in place before the January window so that we do not have to think about selling any more players.

All that really matters, though, is that Lai is out of The Hawthorns at the earliest possible opportunity and that the club can finally move on.

In other West Brom news, fans of another club launched a protest on Albion’s behalf in London.
