West Brom winger Matt Phillips injury news shared by Doctor with February update
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom...
West Brom winger Matt Phillips is expected out of training until at least February due to a hamstring tear, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury claims that based on Carlos Corberan’s initial comments, it looked like a Grade 2 injury would keep him out for a little over a month at the most.
However, an update emerged on 6 December, ruling him out for four months, which means an end of March first-team return may be on the cards.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Phillips’ situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:
“Based on initial comments and viewings, it sounded like a Grade 2 injury and those typically are two to six weeks depending on the injury specifics and player injury history.
“But then there was a fresh update from the club and it was probably the worst-case scenario happening for Phillips.
“He won’t be returning to training before February.“

Whenever fit, the 32-year-old has been among the first names on the team sheet for Corberan’s side.
This season, he’s featured on 19 occasions in the league and has returned with a tally of three goals and three assists to his name.
The Baggies secured a 2-0 win in his absence over Rotherham on 12 December, but it remains to be seen how they handle tougher tests and if they enter the market for a replacement.
In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
