West Brom: Carlos Corberan makes admission about ‘financial situation’ at The Hawthorns
Carlos Corberan has admitted West Brom face a “challenge” regarding their current financial situation at The Hawthorns ahead of the January transfer window.
The Baggies boss, speaking to BirminghamLive (20 December) shared that it has been a challenging year at the club but that it is no excuse for a drop in performance levels and admits he has all he needs ahead of the winter window opening in under two weeks.
Off the field, the clock is ticking for majority stakeholder Guochuan Lai with prospective new owners ready and waiting to takeover the football club amid perilous uncertainty with regard to the club’s finances in terms of the wage bill and West Brom owing millions in loans.

However, Corberan has admitted the off-field issues have no bearing on matters on the pitch and the challenges West Brom face upstairs is no excuse for drop in performance levels and results.
The Spaniard said: “There are no excuses not to be fully focused. We have all the things we need. The financial situation at the club is a challenge. It’s something we’ve said since the summer and it doesn’t change – it’s exactly the same. It’s a challenging year for West Bromwich.”
Corberan rally-call
Things seem to finally be moving in the right direction at The Hawthorns but there is still a long way to go before there is a change of ownership to get the Baggies in a more positive place financially after a difficult few years.
These are certainly nail-biting times for West Brom fans as a potential takeover appears to be closer than it has ever been since the club were put up for sale.

However, Corberan is right in what he said regarding the current challenges at the club and should the Baggies fail to achieve their targets at the end of the season, the Spaniard will certainly be squashing the behind-scenes excuses.
The West Brom players, no matter how depleted they may be right now given the current injury crisis at hand, can only control what they can and that’s getting results on the pitch.
After a recent dip in form and performance, it seems Corberan is certainly offering a rallying-call for his team and rightly so as they may well have forgotten their ambitions amid the injury crisis.
Despite all that, the Baggies find themselves in an encouraging position in the Championship table and the Christmas period provides a fantastic opportunity to improve on it let alone cement it.
In other West Brom news, the worst-case scenario has emerged to potentially end the season of a cursed luck Baggies man.
