Doctor issues surgery diagnosis on West Brom attacker Reyes Cleary

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom...

West Brom attacker Reyes Cleary is unlikely to require surgery as of now on his hamstring despite what Carlos Corberan said, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Baggies boss billed it a “devastating” blow and ruled him out of action for four months.

The 19-year-old was slated to go out on loan in the January transfer window and those plans will now have to be put on hold.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Cleary’s situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

“Another hamstring injury but this time to the other leg.

“Not ideal at that age and it’s undoubtedly going to hinder his progress.”

The timeline makes it sound like it’s a full rupture but no indication of surgery or not and it remains to be seen if things develop.

Despite the manager calling it a devastating injury, it does not necessarily mean that it will need to be operated on.

Cleary has made a handful of senior appearances for the Baggies side and made his first-team debut back in 2022 against Brighton in the FA Cup.

Given the injury crisis at the club, he perhaps would have got chances in Corberan’s side but this certainly has put a spanner in the works.

He now joins Matt Phillips, Josh Maja and Daryl Dike on the sidelines at Hawthorns, adding to the side’s injury list.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
