Jeremy Sarmiento sends message to West Brom team-mate Josh Maja after surgery update
Jeremy Sarmiento was among the West Brom players to wish Josh Maja a speedy recovery after he underwent surgery on Thursday (21 December).
Maja aggravated an ankle injury sustained earlier in the campaign during Albion’s 2-1 loss against Sunderland on 9 December.
The striker is set to miss around four months of action, with his road to recovery now officially under way after going under the knife.

Maja provided an update on the successful procedure on his personal Instagram account [21 December], to which Brighton and Hove Albion loanee Sarmiento replied: “Get well soon my brother.”
Darnell Furlong, Alex Palmer and Grady Diangana also sent messages of goodwill.
Road to recovery
Maja is basically in a race against time to be fit again this season, having only recently recovered from an injury to the same ankle.
It is a cruel blow for the 24-year-old, and leaves Brandon Thomas-Asante as Carlos Corberan’s only recognised centre-forward – and even he may soon be heading off on Africa Cup of Nations duty.
Judging by the comments on his social media pages, Maja is clearly a popular member of the dressing room.

Add Matt Phillips’ long-term lay-off into the mix, plus niggling injuries for the likes of Jed Wallace and John Swift – not to mention Daryl Dike’s issues – and West Brom have not had much luck at all.
Yet despite all that, they remain in the play-off places and have a three-point buffer on the chasing pack.
Corberan will now be eager to stay in the top six come the closing stages of the campaign, at which point Maja may yet make a difference upon his return to action.
In other West Brom news, a second Albion youngster has been sent out on loan to a lower-league side.
