Tony Mowbray at West Brom clash vs Middlesbrough as he shares verdict

Tony Mowbray opted against choosing one of his former sides over the other when asked by journalist Joe Chapman for a prediction ahead of Middlesbrough versus West Brom.

The 60-year-old, who is currently out of work after being sacked by Sunderland earlier this month, was in attendance at the Riverside Stadium for Saturday’s (23 December) Championship clash.

Mowbray previously spent three years in charge of both Boro and West Brom, leading the latter to the Premier League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2008.

Birmingham Live reporter Chapman shared on Twitter [23 December] an exchange he had with Mowbray prior to West Brom’s narrow 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough.

“Tony Mowbray is here today to see two of his former clubs in action against one another,” he said.

“Wasn’t committing to either side when I asked him for a prediction! Legend of a man.”

Good memories

Mowbray is well thought of at a number of clubs he previously managed, not least West Brom.

His recent sacking at Sunderland was a major surprise, and you get the impression it will not be too long before he is back in the dugout.

It is interesting he decided to attend this particular game, but that may well be down to the fact he is still living in the area.

West Brom

Michael Carrick’s job at Middlesbrough was under threat not so long ago, but he is one of the most highly thought of managers around.

The same is true of Carlos Corberan at West Brom, having worked wonders during his time in charge at The Hawthorns.

This was always going to be a tough contest to predict, and unfortunately for Albion they were on the wrong end of a one-goal defeat.

It has been a great season up to this point, though, so let’s hope for an instant response against Norwich City on Boxing Day.

In other West Brom news, Jeremy Sarmiento sent a five-word message to one of his team-mates after an update this week.
