West Brom: Ian Danter hails Carlos Corberan despite situation at The Hawthorns
Ian Danter has applauded Carlos Corberan for his impact at West Brom despite a lack of funds due to the club’s dire financial situation.
As Guochuan Lai continues in his quest to find parties interested in purchasing a majority shareholding in the club, the chairman has had to loan more funds in order to keep things running smoothly.
With a lack of funds, therefore, for the manager to spend on new players to fit his style of play, Danter has been impressed with how successful Corberan has been in leading West Brom up the Championship table.

“Carlos Corberan has done so well,” the EFL reporter said live on talkSPORT on Friday (29 December, 12:17pm).
“He certainly hasn’t got the riches that some managers have got. You’d think he would at a club like West Bromwich Albion but that’s just not the case at the moment.”
Making the best of a bad situation
With 11 wins from their opening 24 matches, Corban has led the Baggies to a fifth-place standing, with four of West Brom’s summer signings either being on loan or a free transfer.
Of those five players, two of them are currently available, with Marc Albrighton, Josh Maja and Pipa suffering through injury. Many clubs would dip back into the transfer window in January but Corberan does not have that luxury.

Despite this, West Brom have a very real possibility of being promoted back to the Premier League for the first time since the 2020/21 season. A victory against Leeds on Friday night would widen the gap between them and Hull City outside of the playoff spots.
It is unlikely that Leicester City and Ipswich Town will be caught this season but the gap between the teams in the playoff spots and the latter team has closed in recent weeks.
It is all to play for in the second half of the season. And if West Brom are able to reach the top tier of English football, it will be imperative that the club is purchased by a majority shareholder, making investing in new players a possibility.
In other West Brom news, a former Premier League referee cannot believe a controversial incident against Norwich.
