Carlos Corberan sends message to West Brom fans after 1-0 win v Leeds United
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has sent a heartfelt message to the club fans after their 1-0 triumph over playoff rivals Leeds United on Friday (29 December).
Grady Diangana’s goal saw West Brom move within three points of fourth-placed Leeds in the Championship with a crucial victory at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies manager took to his personal Twitter account on Friday night (29 December) to thank the fans for their support throughout the game and his spell as West Brom manager.
Corberan posted: “The key for tonight’s win was to maintain our energy levels from the first minute to the last. We did it because you created the best atmosphere in my time here. You made us feel we could never give up.
“Together, we are stronger. Thank you so much!”
Huge three points
West Brom desperately needed to win at all costs against Leeds on Friday and that they did with a tremendous, rugged and solid display to keep out a talented Leeds United attack.
There’s a reason the Baggies have the second-best defensive record in the Championship and the best clean sheet record in England with 12 is because of their superb organisation, spirit, and resilience.

That was all on show against Daniel Farke’s men as they were barely given a sniff or a sight of goal or evening because of Cedric Kipre and Semi Ajayi, joined later by Kyle Bartley at the heart of the defence.
Not only that, but Corberan had certainly learnt a few lessons from recent defeats to Southampton and Leicester City in the way he set up his team to stop counter-attacks, and Leeds are certainly one of the best at them in the Championship.
It was a great end to the year for West Brom but also a strong message to their opponents they are now breathing down their necks in the Championship table, now sitting three points behind them.
So crucial these three points but also a true sign of how far Corberan has taken the club.
In other West Brom news, a lack of any update on the takeover situation could prove a cause for concern.
