Sky Sports host predicts West Brom scoreline v Swansea City, shares automatic Championship promotion verdict

David Prutton has predicted West Brom to beat Swansea City when the two sides go head-to-head on Monday (1 January).

Writing on the Sky Sports website on Saturday (30 December), the host admitted that the Swans look “fairly rudderless” without a manager following the sacking of Michael Duff.

He said that Albion will look to capitalise on that to continue their good run of form as he predicted them to beat the Welsh club 1-0, but he added that a push for an automatic promotion place could be “too far away” for Carlos Corberan’s side.

“Swansea look fairly rudderless without a manager at the minute,” said Prutton. “It has been nearly a month since Michael Duff was sacked, so it is quite clear the club didn’t have a contingency plan for his dismissal.

“West Brom will look to capitalise and continue their good run of form after two big wins on the bounce against Norwich and Leeds. The top two is probably too far away, but they can nail down that top-six spot. Away win.”

Consistency

It’s all about remaining consistent for West Brom as they look to keep up their good form over the past couple of games and cement their place in the playoffs.

The two victories over promotion rivals Norwich City and Leeds United will have provided them with plenty of confidence before making the trip to South Wales.

While the points are certainly welcome, the fact they also managed to keep clean sheets against both of those sides, who have been scoring for fun this season, is highly impressive.

They now need to go and back that up against a team that is well out of form and languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table.

Corberan will be looking for his side to remain compact and not give much away, but for them to take their chances as they look to hunt down the sides above them.

In other West Brom news, behind-the-scenes talks are underway regarding a £1million+ Albion player sale.
