Aston Villa Women star raves about Tom Fellows in West Brom loss v Swansea, ‘best player on the pitch’
Aston Villa Women star Rachel Corsie was left wowed live on Sky Sports over West Brom youngster Tom Fellows after his first-half display in the 1-0 defeat against Swansea City.
The Baggies looking to record their third successive Sky Bet Championship win on New Year’s Day when they travelled to Wales to take on Swansea City.
It was a largely uneventful first half for the Albion but youngster Fellows who replaced the injured Jed Wallace in Carlos Corberan’s starting eleven made an impression in the first half, laying on a fantastic pass for a Brandon Thomas-Asante chance but the striker shot straight at the Swansea City goalkeeper.

Corsey, reporting live from Swansea.Com Stadium on Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Special (1 January, 3:39 pm) could not hide her joy over his display, saying: “West Brom have absolutely been the better team. Tom Fellows is by far the best player on the pitch, and I think it’s his first start in a long time.
“But just moments ago, he just drifted into the midfield, took the ball under pressure but spun brilliantly, fed in Thomas-Asante and he spurned the chance.
“Every time Fellows gets the ball, it looks like something could happen. He’s also had a snapshot himself.”
So impressive
Fellows indeed looked the best player on the pitch in that first half and completely showed the youthful exuberance and electric wing-play that the West Brom fans have been crying out for a while.
His more experienced teammates Grady Diangana, Jayson Molumby and Thomas-Asante were all nowhere to be seen in attack, Fellows was the only one trying to create openings for the Baggies.

With Wallace out of action and Jeremy Sarmiento making his return to his parent club Brighton, Corberan will surely be reliant on Fellows for some attacking inspiration now.
And his display against Swansea showed a player certainly now looking to claim his permanent spot but also more crucially lead West Brom to further glory in 2024.
The recent development of clubs interested in his services is of no surprise given his incredible talents and his contract coming to a close this summer but West Brom simply have to ensure he’s spending the best part of his youth at The Hawthorns.
What a talent.
In other West Brom news, two senior players could be set for an exit from The Hawthorns in January, one other youth product attracting plenty of interest already.
