De Zerbi: Brighton to loan out Jeremy Sarmiento again after West Brom recall
Roberto De Zerbi has revealed that Brighton could be set to loan out Jeremy Sarmiento again after he was recalled from West Brom.
Speaking in a press conference on Monday (1 January, via Ryan Adsett), the Seagulls boss said he expects the 21-year-old winger to go out on loan with another team.
The Ecuadorian was recalled by the Premier League side on Monday after making seven starts in his 21 appearances for Albion since his summer arrival at the Hawthorns.
Replaceable
It’s certainly a blow to Carlos Corberan’s plans that Sarmiento has been recalled by Brighton after he was just starting to get going in a West Brom shirt.
Six of his seven starts during his loan spell had come over the past eight games as he did a decent job of filling in for the injured Matt Phillips.
But despite clearly possessing plenty of talent, the winger didn’t exactly pull up any trees at the Hawthorns, having scored just two goals in his 21 appearances.

It is nothing like the situation when Harvey Barnes was recalled by Leicester City in the January transfer window a few years back as the Ecuadorian has largely been a bit-part player.
Corberan is believed to be looking for two new attacking players to come in and strengthen his side over the next month and there’s a decent chance he could sign someone that fits his setup better than Sarmiento did.
In other West Brom news, behind-the-scenes talks are underway regarding a £1million+ Albion player sale.
