West Brom loanee Jovan Malcolm returns to The Hawthorns as loan ends
West Brom academy star Jovan Malcolm has been recalled from his loan spell with Cheltenham Town after just ten games.
The Baggies announced his return to The Hawthorns on 2 January after he played ten times in all competitions for The Robins and he leaves them 23rd in Sky Bet League One.
The 20-year-old forward joined the League One side on a temporary deal for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign back in September but it seems as if Carlos Corberan has decided to recall the youngster back to The Hawthorns.

Sarmiento response
After the departure of Jeremy Sarmiento back to his parent club, the decision to bring back Malcolm certainly seems like a direct response to the Ecuadorian international leaving.
The Baggies are certainly desperately short on attacking options right now with Sarmiento gone, Grady Diangana now on African Cup of Nations duty, and Jed Wallace and John Swift suffering yet more injury niggles.

Corberan was forced to deploy Tom Fellows in attack against Swansea and the youngster took the demands of the encounter like a duck to water which certainly suggests he’s ready to stake his claim. However, Corberan is still left in a pickle.
Malcolm has impressed for the Baggies youth sides and while he has been used on occasion by Corberan, the switch to the Completely Suzuki Stadium was supposed to offer him the chance to gain some consistent first-team minutes in a competitive league.
However, after just ten games played for The Robins, it seems the loan experience hasn’t worked out for Malcolm and with the depleted attacking weaponry now at Corberan’s disposal, it’s best Malcolm follows Fellows’ route into the first team picture.
In other West Brom news, two senior players could be set for an exit from The Hawthorns in January, one other youth product attracting plenty of interest already.
