Chelsea make loan decision as West Brom transfer now on cards in January

Chelsea could look to send Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos on loan to the Championship in the January transfer window, with West Brom a potential destination, according to HITC.

The football news outlet reported on 3 January that Chelsea hope the Brazil international can gain some more first-team experience after deciding to cut his loan spell at Nottingham Forest short.

Santos made just one Premier League appearance for Forest, coming on as a substitute against Liverpool at Anfield, but is now being considered by the Baggies for a potential loan deal.

Albion must be in the running

It has been widely reported that the Baggies will look to explore the loan market as well as potential free agents for the majority of their January business, so when a player with the talent Santos possesses becomes available, they would be silly not to consider.

The Brazilian made the switch to West London last January in an £18million deal, before being loaned back to Vasco da Gama and then to Forest before he was recalled, but Chelsea want him to pick up more game time before he is ready to feature for them.

HITC also named Sunderland and Hull City as possible contenders for a loan deal, while journalist Ben Jacobs also mentioned interest from Crystal Palace, Ipswich and Leeds [CaughtOffside], so there is no shortage of interest in Santos.

Carlos Corberan is keen on adding new additions to his squad to help build depth and add quality as they continue their push for promotion, and a move for Santos would certainly contribute to both of those factors.
