West Brom could now face fine as paperwork officially overdue
West Brom could now be made to pay fines after missing the deadline to file confirmation statement paperwork on Companies House.
On the official UK Government website regarding company information, it is shared that the confirmation statement for West Bromwich Albion Football Club Limited is now overdue.
According to Credit Reform, while it is crucial to submit the confirmation statement on time, it is not unusual to miss the deadline, although a £150 daily fine could be issued by Companies House if the deadline is missed by more than 14 days.

It is, however, shared that a warning letter will be the first stage of proceedings after a late submission, while Companies House could take action against the club in court, leading to hefty fines.
In addition to potential financial punishments, Credit Reform shares that failing to issue a confirmation statement on time could lead to criminal proceedings against the directors and members, with a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment or an unlimited fine on the cards.
The most serious consequence for not submitting the confirmation statement on time is that Companies House may remove the company from the register, meaning it would no longer have limited status and become dissolved, meaning the company would not have access to its assets.
Lastly, another severe consequence of the infringement could be the dissolution of the company, meaning all assets associated would be seized and any business activities would have to cease immediately.

The majority of these punishments are focused on normal businesses in the UK, with football clubs often being granted special dispensation or another set of rules around this sort of thing, but the severity of having this paperwork overdue at The Hawthorns is clear.
While many of these punishments may not apply, with the offence of missing a confirmation statement usually a light infringement or delay in sending paperwork, it could spiral out of hand if allowed to do so.
