Cardiff City issue injury update on West Brom loanee Karlan Grant after serious concerns emerged
Nikolaos Karydas has revealed that the injury suffered by West Brom loanee Karlan Grant isn’t as bad as first feared.
There were serious concerns after the 26-year-old was subbed off in Cardiff City’s game against Leicester City on 29 December that he may have ruptured his hamstring, but the Welsh club’s assistant manager told Wales Online on Thursday (4 December) that scans have revealed that the prognosis is better than originally thought.
He added that the injury is “not serious” but that the Bluebirds will try to manage the forward’s workload so that he can be ready to play in their upcoming games.

“I can say that it is not serious, but we try to manage his load from the league games for him to be ready for the next games with us,” said Karydas. “We have some small problems and issues, but we manage it and we go to play at Sheffield with our best starting lineup. Tomorrow we will train and we will decide [if he can play].”
Relief
There will be great relief from everyone at Cardiff to hear that Grant’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared after he was forced off in the first half against Leicester.
The forward has scored four goals and laid on three assists in 25 appearances for the Bluebirds this season, having joined on a season-long loan deal.
There will also be some relief at West Brom as the club are probably looking to sell him in the near future and any potential serious injury could put that in doubt.

Grant was a frustrating figure during his time at the Hawthorns and Carlos Corberan was happy to see him leave in the summer to free up wages.
Albion have performed well in his absence this season, with the Spanish boss helping them battle for a place at the top end of the Championship table.
