Carlos Corberan: West Brom ‘working’ to seal January contract with talks ongoing

Carlos Corberan has revealed West Brom are in talks with Tom Fellows, and are working to tie him down to a new contract in January after his impressive displays of late.

It has been a breakthrough season for Fellows under Corberan, and with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Albion have made it a priority to get a deal sewn up.

Having lost Jeremy Sarmiento after Brighton opted to trigger their recall option, Fellows was asked to step up with his first start against Swansea on 1 January and proved his worth once more.

Speaking to the Express & Star [6 January], Corberan shared: “I know that the club is working in this aspect – with some of the players, especially now individually I can tell you with Tom Fellows because the club is of course focused on this.”

Get this one over the line

It is crucial for West Brom that they can get the deal with Fellows over the line as soon as possible. With the ongoing situation at the club, there is no way they can allow an academy product as talented as him to leave for free in the summer.

At just 20 years old, he has already stamped his mark on the team with 14 Championship appearances so far this campaign and has stepped up amid the ongoing injury crisis and off-field concerns.

Baggies fans always love to see an academy graduate coming through at The Hawthorns, so as much as the deal will be an important one for the club from both a playing and financial perspective, it would also be warmly received as a boost by the fans.

The emergence of Fellows has been a real bright spark in what has, so far, been an impressive season competitively. Fans at The Hawthorns will be keen to see how he continues to grow and develop his game under the guidance of Corberan at Albion.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies could benefit from a £150million+ twist after government intervention.
