Tony Brown shares Daryl Dike verdict after what West Brom star did v Aldershot Town – ‘Unbelievable’

Tony Brown says West Brom striker Daryl Dike will feel “unbelievable” relief from scoring on his return to action against Aldershot Town.

Dike made his first appearance for Albion since April last year in Sunday’s (7 January) FA Cup third-round tie at The Hawthorns.

The United States international marked the occasion in style as he found the net after 27 minutes to put the hosts 3-0 up.

Commentating on the game for BBC Radio WM [7 January, 2:30pm], Brown said: “That’s the biggest applause of the day.

“The whole ground is screaming for him. The relief he’ll get from that goal, just to be back on the scoresheet, will be unbelievable.

“The good thing about this is the execution, the way he’s taken it. He’s got a great connection on it and the keeper has no chance.”

Co-commentator Steve Hermon added: “What a moment for the American striker. It’s a proper striker’s finish.”

Great to see

Dike certainly wasted no time in reminding West Brom supporters exactly what he is all about.

It has been a very long road back for the American, but hopefully his injury issues are not a thing of the past.

The former Orlando City ace certainly did not look off the pace during the first half of this match, albeit against non-league opposition.

West Brom

The fact Dike is not only back available but seemingly picking up from where he left off is a hugely encouraging development for Carlos Corberan.

There have been no new signings at The Hawthorns this month – and who knows if that will change – but Dike being back is a major positive.

There was nothing particularly special about the goal, but it was more the fact Dike did not miss a beat in converting after finding himself perfectly positioned.

The celebration also said it all. It’s great to see Dike back on the field and clearly enjoying himself again.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are hoping to bring in another attacking player before the transfer window closes.
