Fenton Heard shares what ‘top class’ West Brom teammates did after FA Cup win v Aldershot Town
Fenton Heard has revealed what his West Brom teammates did to him and the other academy stars following their FA Cup third-round clash with Aldershot Town, labelling them “top class”.
Carlos Corberan’s side progressed to the fourth round with relative ease as they breezed past Aldershot Town with a 4-1 win on Sunday (8 January) thanks to goals from Nathaniel Chalobah, Jovan Malcolm, Daryl Dike and Tom Fellows.
While it was a regulation win for the Baggies, Albion’s side featured a number of young stars making their debuts, including Heard who admitted after the game, the senior players gave all the debutants a round of applause in the changing room.

As quoted by the Express & Star (8 January) he said: “It’s a great day like I said and I’m really happy for the other lads. The senior lads have been fantastic with me.
“They applauded me and everyone else who made their debut today, which is top class. I can’t fault any of them because they all welcomed us in and gave us a stage to perform and show our quality.”
Team united
It is clear that this West Brom team under the management of Corberan have been incredibly tight-knit and united since the Spaniard arrived at The Hawthorns, with the senior players creating a welcoming environment for the young stars to flourish.
There were so many academy talents included in the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Aldershot and while the standard of opposition can always be questioned, the Baggies stood up to the challenge and impressed against a team that could have represented a banana skin.

Heard in particular was superb in the middle of the park for Albion and had you not known that he was making his first-ever start for the Baggies, you would have thought he’d already made hundreds of appearances in a West Brom shirt.
Hopefully, it is the first of many impressive displays for the young 19-year-old midfielder. If he and the other gems in Corberan’s side can keep improving, West Brom could have an exciting future ahead of them.
