Lewis Cox reacts to West Brom FA Cup news with Carlos Corberan quip

Lewis Cox joked he would to know what Carlos Corberan thinks after West Brom were handed a potential FA Cup fourth-round Black Country derby with fierce rivals Wolves.

For that to happen, Wolves need to first defeat fellow Premier League side Brentford in a fourth-round replay having drawn their first contest 1-1.

West Brom easily over Aldershot 4-1 to make it through and will be at home at the Hawthorns where most neutrals will be hoping they host Wolves.

Taking to his official X account after the draw was made, Express & Star journalist Cox posted: “Wow. Albion v Brentford/Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round. Oh my.

“To be played end of Jan. W/end of Jan 26-29. Love to see what Carlos makes of that.”

Oh my indeed…

Boy, oh boy, oh boy…

What a prospect this would be. It’s hard to get overexcited because Wolves still have an extremely tricky replay to negotiate against Brentford and that is certainly no gimme for Gary O’Neil’s side.

But if they manage to get through what a tie we have on our hands here, surely it would be broadcast live on TV because the atmosphere for that one would be absolutely electric and a great contest for the neutral.

West Brom

The two sides last met in the Premier League during the 2020-21 season, with West Brom winning at Wolves 3-2 in January 2021 and a 1-1 draw taking place at The Hawthorns in May that same year.

Those games of course took place during the lockdown campaign where supporters were not allowed to attend and ultimately ended in relegation from the top flight for the Baggies.

So it would be first time since February 2012 supporters would be in attendance for the derby. What happened on that occasion? Oh, just a little 5-1 win for West Brom at Molineux…

In other West Brom news, the Baggies want to sign an international striker who scored 17 goals last year.
