West Brom push to complete new January transfer in days
West Brom are aiming to complete one new signing in the January transfer window before they face Blackburn Rovers at The Hawthorns on 13 January, according to Joseph Chapman.
The Birmingham Live journalist reported on 9 January that Albion are attempting to be proactive in the transfer market to help strengthen Carlos Corberan’s squad this month.
After the departure of Jeremy Sarmiento and injuries to the likes of Josh Maja and Matt Phillips, West Brom are trying to sign two attacking reinforcements in this window, with one possibly arriving by the end of the week.

Getting deals done early
The news that West Brom will be proactive in the transfer market will be music to the ears of everybody around The Hawthorns, as they look to strengthen Corberan’s weakened team to provide him with the best chance of reaching the playoffs at the end of the season.
Corberan has worked miracles with this squad given the financial situation and uncertainty surrounding the ownership, budgets, wages and player sales, but if he is going to be backed in January then the board are showing clear support for the boss.
An injury crisis was worsened when Brighton decided to recall Sarmiento and subsequently loan him to promotion rivals Ipswich, but it has forced the club to look in the transfer market to reduce the impact on the team.

If a deal can be concluded before the game against Blackburn on Saturday, it will set Albion up nicely for the rest of the window with their attentions and efforts able to focus on any additional incoming, after it was reported at least two players will be targeted.
In other West Brom news, a “desperate” player sale update has emerged.
