Carlos Corberan shares West Brom injury update on Jed Wallace and John Swift ahead of Blackburn Rovers clash
Carlos Corberan is hoping to have both Jed Wallace and John Swift available to him for the clash between West Brom and Blackburn Rovers but will be without Jayson Molumby once again.
Wallace has missed the Baggies’ last two matches having picked up an injury against Leeds United in December, while Swift was an unused substitute against Aldershot Town in the FA Cup having felt discomfort in his calf when warming up at half-time.
Both players have trained with Albion this week, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be fit enough to feature on Saturday (13 January) at The Hawthorns, with Corberan admitting he’s waiting for the green light from the medical department.

As quoted by Birmingham Live (11 January) he said: “He [Swift] has managed to train well during the week and it’s been positive to face the next game, but still we have training on Friday before I am able to make the decision.
“The important thing is to see how Wallace is, and how many minutes he has to play. Depending on medically whether he’s ready to play or not and then physically how many minutes, it depends on the green light for both
“If you have the green light, then you can play him. If not, firstly medically, let’s say he’s ready then how many minutes he can play?
“If it’s a green light for him to play the full game then that’s one picture. If he can only play a part of the game then that’s another picture. Still, I need to wait until Friday to know this.”
Wait and see
The loss of Molumby is a blow to Corberan and West Brom and the Irishman has really stepped into the fold during Swift’s injury absence and has replaced the attacking midfielder in that advanced role ahead of Alex Mowatt and Okay Yokuslu.
However, that blow will be softened if Swift is given the green light to feature from the off against Blackburn on Saturday. The 28-year-old started the season excellently but has struggled to maintain his fitness over the last few weeks.

The Baggies will fancy their chances of claiming all three points against Rovers if they have both Swift and Wallace available from the off, but it seems as though not even Corberan knows which players he’ll have at his disposal.
Hopefully, the pair come through training okay on Friday and Albion receive the green light to start them both so that West Brom can get back to winning ways in the Championship.
